Germination

The Seeds below are small pieces, mostly 6″ x 6″, and pure form. Using the same technique, I branched out from those original experiments into 24″ inch squares, 12″ x 24″ rectangles and finally into Cumulo Lunas and Polyploidy

The names are derived from stages in plant development. The larger formats lead me into the Maps series.

Seeds

I spent some time with my brother, in North Carolina, during the Summer of 2009. Up until that time, my work had been exclusively figurative. Being there, in an unfamiliar place and with access to his garage and his tools, I started experimenting with monotypes using acrylic paint.

I call the series seeds, because they resemble cells and to signify a new direction with my work.
